The Seed Enterprise Management Institute (SEMIs) at CAVS with collaboration with EBE conducted international training courses on seed production from 10th – 15th August and on seed drying, processing and storage from 17th – 22nd August, 2015. The instructors from EBE were Eng. Prof. A. N. Gitau, Dr. D. O. Mbuge and Eng. J. Mutua.
The objective of the seed production was “To enhance participants’ practical knowledge and skills for quality seed production and regulatory aspects of seed production in a commercial context” while the seed processing, drying and storage aimed at “Equipping participants with practical knowledge of the basic concepts involved in drying, processing and storage operations typically utilized to prepare a seed lot for market and use.”
The participants are selected from over 11 Sub-Saharan African countries. They include:-
Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ghana, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi, South Sudan and DR Congo.
The closure with the issuance of certificates to the participants was done on 22nd August, 2015.
