A VISIT BY STUDENTS FROM UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AMHERST, USA

The Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering 3rd,  4th and 5th year students met with students from University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA for an interactive session on 14th January, 2016. The guest students were welcomed by the  Mr. A. K. Inima.

The team belongs to the Engineers without Borders-EWB - UMass Amherst student chapter.They were led by faculty advisor Prof. John Tobiason, student mentor Joseph Gitau, project manager Mimi Alkattan and Ryan Howell.

 

  During the session the guest students shared the following with EBE students:

  • About EWB work as an association in the USA and their structure (student/professional chapter)
  • Evaluation of possibilities and opportunities for starting an EWB – UoN CHAPTER as a student group
  • Promise of support by the department and EWB – UMASS to students as they embark on this initiative
  • Commitment by students to engage in initiating and progressing the group to develop their professional skills by volunteering in various students identified projects.
