Dr. Gichuki Muchiri has gained wide experience in teaching, research, institution development, project management and administration and on the job training of graduate engineers as well as in planning, design and construction of Agricultural Engineering Projects. Former Chairman Kenya Pipeline Company, Chief Engineer, Agricultural Development Corporation, Chief Engineer Ministry of Agriculture. He has acted as Principal Consultant for Agricultural mechanisation, post-harvest processing, preservation and storage. Was the project Consultant / co-ordinator for the UNDP / AGROTEC/ Ministry of Agriculture on Agricultural Mechanisation Strategy Formulation for Kenya

Dr. Philip Owende Dr. Philip Owende

Dr Philip Owende is the Academic Quality Manager at TU Dublin (Blanchardstown Campus). He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, and Member of Engineers Ireland Accreditation Board. He holds position of Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Biosystems Engineering, University College Dublin (UCD). He has participated in and/or chaired international verification reviews of undergraduate engineering programmes on behalf of the International Engineering Alliance for mutual recognition of awards supporting engineering graduates’ mobility in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia. He has been Principal Researcher in funded research and higher education projects worth over €4.5 million, has supervised 9 PhD and 11 Masters projects to completion, published 6 book chapters and over 40 refereed publications, and currently has an HIndex of 20 with over 3,400 citations in Scopus.

Prof. Eng. Bancy Mbura Mati is the Director, Water Research and Resource Center (WARREC) and Professor at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in the Soil, Water and Environmental Engineering Department (SWEED). She holds a PhD degree from the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Food Production and Rural Land Use; Cranfield University of United Kingdom; an MSc degree in Land and Water Management and BSc degree in Agricultural Engineering both from University of Nairobi. She is a registered Consulting Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and Lead Expert in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Consultancy and Development work

Prof. Mati is an active consultant and development worker, tackling water resources management, climate change, sustainable land management, irrigation, catchment management strategies, developing and assessing national and international policies and strategies and institutions, as well as workshop facilitation and project evaluation. She has been a consultant for several international organizations, among them; The World Bank, WBI, FAO, WFP, IFAD, AGRA, ICRAF, UNDP, NEPAD, Nile Basin Initiative/RATP, ILRI, IWMI, EAC/LVBC, RELMA, ASARECA, FARA, CCAFS, GIZ, Metameta, Gibb, WRMA, Camco/PREPARED, CTA, Matrix, Sokoine University of Agriculture, Swiss National Science Foundation and Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MENR).

Eng. Dr. D.O. Mbuge DR. DUNCAN ONYANGO MBUGE

Dr. (Eng) Duncan Onyango Mbuge the current Chair and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Environmental and Bio-systems Engineering, University of Nairobi. He attended Egerton University and University of Nairobi for undergraduate and postgraduate studies respectively in Agricultural Engineering. He is registered by the Kenya Engineers Registration Board as a professional engineer and is a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya. He is currently conducting research in the optimization of evaporative cooling systems for fruit and vegetable preservation, development of hybrid solar/desiccant driers as well as processing and packaging of African leafy vegetables. He is specialized in food and process engineering.

Prof. Ayub ENG. PROF. GITAU AYUB NJOROGE

Eng Prof. A. N. Gitau is an Agricultural Engineer (Registered with Engineers Board of Kenya) with over 30 years of academic and practical experience in: Agricultural Mechanization and infrastructure (Water; Irrigation and In-built) Development; Water Harvesting Technologies; Environment; Renewable Energies; Conservation Agriculture Technologies and Power and Machinery Engineering. He has held various positions which include: Lecturer and Head of Department of Science and Technology, Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI) – Ministry of Trade and Industry (1997-2001); Lecturer and Ag. Head of Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources – Kenya Methodist University (2001-2002), full time Lecturer – University of Nairobi (2002 to 2008); Senior Lecturer (2008 to 2014) and Associate Professor (2015 to date). He has acted as chairman; Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering; April – September, 2005; April, 2007 and 2010. He has been chairman, Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering, University of Nairobi (2011 to July 2017) and has acted as Dean, School of Engineering. He is the current Dean – School of Engineering University of Nairobi. He is also a Council Member: Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) 2018 to 2020.

AGULLO JANUARIUS ONDIEK MR. AGULLO JANUARIUS ONDIEK

Mr. Agullo Janauarius Ondiek holds a BSc and MSc degrees in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Nairobi with speciality in Agricultural Processing and Structures Engineering. He is a Registered Graduate Engineer with Engineers Registration Board, Kenya.

Mr. Agullo’s main interests are in dissemination of knowledge, research, and lifelong learning. He has over sixteen years teaching experience at the university level, during which, he has had the opportunity to lecture at three major Kenyan universities including the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He has taught courses on engineering sciences, post-harvest technology, environmental control of structures, and computer programming including use of statistical software such as R and SPSS.

He has research and consultancy experience in areas of systems modelling, data analysis, post-harvest technology and computer applications in engineering education and design. He has published his research findings in journals and conference proceedings. He has also co-authored one book on rural structures.

Mr. Agullo is currently a Lecturer and a PhD candidate at the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering. He is also an adjunct trainer at the Training Centre in Communication (TCC) where he trains postgraduate students on how to t use the R software for statistical computing and graphics.
