The Environmental and Biosystems Engineering Students Association, (EBESA), together with the Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering this year between 26th and 29th September organized an Academic trip / Industrial visit to Mombasa.

The students were accompanied by two member of staff; Dr. Waweru Muthumbi and Ms. Consolata Mwangi. The companies that were approached and approved the visit include;

  1. Mandharini Resort that deals in water treatment, that is through reverse osmosis,
  2. Mombasa Cement company,
  3. Kilifi sisal plantation and
  4. The BigShip CBO, that deals in conservation of the Mangrove forests.

However, the students were able to visit to Mombasa cement company and the BigShip CBO. It was indeed amazing to see how engineering students were on the forefront in conserving the environment, selflessly walking through the muddy mangrove creeks in a bid to create a positive change to the environment and arresting climate change that has turned a monster to the world of the recent past.
