The assessment of students undertaking industrial attachment in various industries by staff from the Department of Environmental and Biosystems Engineering provided an opportunity to evaluate their practical skills, professional conduct, and application of classroom knowledge in real-world work environments. The students were exposed to diverse areas including environmental management, agricultural and biosystems engineering, water and waste management, manufacturing, and related engineering activities.
The assessment established that the attachment programme is essential in enhancing students’ technical competence, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and professional skills. Staff also received valuable feedback from industry supervisors, which will help strengthen student training and university–industry collaboration. Overall, the assessment visits were successful and contributed to improving the quality and relevance of the students’ practical training.
