On Thursday, 4 May 2023 at 11.00am in Taifa Hall, Main Campus, the University held a Compassion Day to sensitize the University community and stakeholders on the need to support the less fortunate and vulnerable students in the University with tuition fees, basic needs such as food, shelter and other essential services in order for them to achieve their academic and career goals.
Mangroves play a vital role in coastal ecology and in sustaining and securing coastal communities. They reduce the harmful effects of coastal erosion, storms and flooding. Mangroves make a critical contribution to climate regulation through carbon capture. Unlike terrestrial forests, which store most of their carbon in the trunk and branches, mangroves store most carbon in their root systems and neighboring soil acting as carbon ‘sinks’, locking it away for generations.

The Faculty of Engineering co-hosted the Kenya Society of Environmental, Biological and Agricultural Engineers -KeSEBAE, Annual Conference on Wednesday 7th to Friday 9th December 2022. The theme of the conference was “Engineering a Sustainable World.” Our staff and students are registered members of this society and are actively involved in research projects and KeSEBAE activities. The hybrid international conference attracted about 400 participants.

A one-week training workshop for five members of The Lobur Community Women’s Group from Turkana County concluded on Friday, 4th November 2022. The training entailed practical demonstrations and discussions on grain processing, followed by visits to grain processing and machinery companies.

Mbuge hosted academia delegates from various universities for a Solar Powered Technologies - Research Proposal writing workshop for two days from 27th to 28th October, 2022 during the 4th Engineering conference 2022 at UoN Towers. The overall theme of EC2022 conference was “Emerging Research and Technologies in Engineering for Sustainable Development of Society”

The death occurred on Tuesday September 27, 2022 while undergoing treatment at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
