A VISIT TO KEVIAN KENYA

Second year students visited Kevian Kenya Thika Plant for an industrial visit to the company.The students were taken through juice making processes that includes; Selection and preparation of raw material, Juice extraction, Filtration (optional), Batch preparation, Pasteurisation, Filling and bottling.

MECHANICAL DESIGN PRESENTATION

On 18th May, 2023 EBE Fourth Year students presented and defended their fabricated projects design FEB 403 MECHANICAL DESIGN.  This unit introduces the general principles of mechanical design and applies these to product development, from concept to detailed design. It considers methods for evaluation and selection of alternative designs. It then engages students in a major multidisciplinary design and development project, which may integrate elements of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering.

Davis & Shirtliff trained EBE technical staff on the water treatment and renewable energy techniques

On 17th May, 2023 Eng. Amos Wambura Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Davis & Shirtliff trained EBE technical staff on the water treatment and renewable energy techniques as illustrated on the learning model donated to the department by the company earlier this year.

Final year projects Presentation 12- May- 2023

The final year project is the culmination of the degree course. It gives students a chance to demonstrate all they have learned since joining university. The project module is very different from other modules. Although students are supervised, the onus is on the student to define the problem boundaries, to investigate possible solutions, and to present the results in writing, verbally and in action. Apart from an initial briefing session there are no formal lectures to attend.

UON COMPASSION DAY

On Thursday, 4 May 2023 at 11.00am in Taifa Hall, Main Campus, the University held a Compassion Day to sensitize the University community and stakeholders on the need to support the less fortunate and vulnerable students in the University with tuition fees, basic needs such as food, shelter and other essential services in order for them to achieve their academic and career goals.

EBESA ADOPT A SITE MANGROVE PROJECT 2023

Mangroves play a vital role in coastal ecology and in sustaining and securing coastal communities. They reduce the harmful effects of coastal erosion, storms and flooding. Mangroves make a critical contribution to climate regulation through carbon capture. Unlike terrestrial forests, which store most of their carbon in the trunk and branches, mangroves store most carbon in their root systems and neighboring soil acting as carbon ‘sinks’, locking it away for generations.
